ABOUT ARTWORKS

Livvy King is a British contemporary artist based in London. She has had a keen interest in the human form and its movement, developing her style through own exploration and courses such as drawing from life with the English National Ballet in 2018. Having made the move to London late 2018 she has already exhibited at Parallax Art Fair in Kensington and the Window Gallery at University College London Hospitals.”

My inspiration: For all my pieces I use personal experiences to inject emotion into my paintings, meaning each piece of work has an individual story behind it. Because of this I welcome inquires and conversations about my art to help the viewer really connect with the piece. The two main themes running through the work are centred around finding strength and independence as a young woman in the twenty first century and reproducing onto paper the cascade of emotions thrown up in a relationships.

My art: The main medium I use is ink. I love the way this material can allow me to create bold and precise line on the paper, yet, when added to water it has a mind of its own and I have to accept its choice of flow. I enjoy exploring colours and techniques to capture the desired mood for each piece. More recently I have been adding mixed media to my figures to capture the movement of fabric and have also been experimenting acrylic paint, producing studies of nudes in vibrant colour.
