Original Artwork. Sphinx the Gatekeeper is an original oil painting on fine linen. Gallery stretched and ready to hang. The sides are beautifully finished. The inspiration was an image I found surfing the internet. It is a piece of a series of animal portraits. I find that many people love cats so why not paint something that many people enjoy? So, I painted my own cat. There is an element of creepiness to it. I really enjoyed painting the wrinkled skin and the bulging eyes. These cats are truly incredible looking, somewhat weird and elegant at the same time - like an Egyptian hieroglyphic. Happy to take pet commissions!
