Having visited the site of the Romanov family’s execution in Yekaterinburg and being moved by the dramatic story of how the telegram from the UK Government giving the family asylum arrived on the afternoon of the morning of their execution. Some ten years later I was inspired to create this when invited by the East Anglia Art Fund to participate in their exhibition within Norwich Castle Museum entitled ‘Inheritance’ as the dates of the exhibition (July 2018) coincided with the 100th anniversary of their execution.
